Catvision was founded in 1985 by a group of professionals.
Athar Abbas, the CEO of the company, is a B.Tech. from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from IIM Calcutta.
Rajesh Kher, the CTO of the company, is a B. Tech. from IIT Kanpur and has worked in research positions at TIFR and DRDO.
In 1986 Catvision started installing complete cable TV systems in company townships and hotels – the first cable TV networks in India.

In 1995 the company made a public issue of stock. At present the company’s stock is listed at the Bombay Stock Exchange.
In 2013 Catvision entered into a joint venture with Unitron Group, Belgium (www.unitron.be) for design and development of digital TV products in India.

Today, Catvision manufactures networking products for cable TV and internet networks (see www.catvisionindia.com), and IOT devices like set top boxes and smart security cameras for the consumer industry.
